Today I read Proverbs 30, which talks about being rich or poor, truly seeing yourself, and knowing your job, weaknesses, and strengths. Today I considered that it is better to be neither rich nor poor; we need to see ourselves as we truly are; and try to understand our job position, weaknesses, and strengths. I am also thankful that I am in the middle ground.
Neither Rich nor Poor
God warns us about being rich and being poor (Proverbs 30:7-9). People are sometimes so rich that they deny God and no longer to worship Him. People are sometimes so poor that they steal and take God’s name in vain. Each person needs to find his or her middle ground so that they continue to seek God and know of the blessings God has given to him or her.
Not Seeing the Truth
God warns about not seeing your true self and never being satisfied (Proverbs 30:10-17). People sometimes do not realize the dangers of accusing someone who knows your secrets. Some people do not appreciate their parents, realize their own sin, or realize their own unchecked desire for more. We should try to truly see ourselves as we are and learn to set boundaries instead of just continuing to consume everything.
Know Your Job, Weaknesses, and Strengths
God tells us to know the correct way to do our job position, adjust for our weaknesses, and acknowledge our strengths (Proverbs 30:18-33). Do the position you are hired and trained to do because you may not be prepared for the responsibility of something more. When a person recognizes their weaknesses, they can compensate to protect themselves like weak birds that live in the rocks are protected from predators. Acknowledge your strengths and use them but do not go so far that you lift yourself too high and are hurt. We need to continuously learn about ourselves so that we can effectively do our jobs, play to our strengths, and compensate for our weaknesses.
Questions and Thoughts for Today
For Thanksgiving I would like to thank God for putting me in a place where I am blessed to be in the middle ground. God has provided for my needs today. I am not so rich or so poor that I forsake God.
What are you thankful for today?
